I had an absolutely wonderful chat with Leah Piken Kolidas over at Creative Every Day about creativity and the body. We talked about the impact your body and your relationship with your body has on your creativity. We explored ways of staying connected to your creativity through your body. And we shared what today, in this moment, we were grateful to our bodies for.  Come on over and have a listen!

Taking a moment to think about your body, what are you grateful for?

Hi — am listening with delight and relish, but WHAT is the name of the exercising you do? something with an “R”, but I’ve replayed 4 times and can’t capture it. It sounds like something I really WANT to explore, because of the flexibility within the structure.

Thanks!

Jamie, it was such a delight chatting with you!!

Toni, I think you’re referring to Jamie’s experience with Nia, which is great fun!

what am I grateful for regarding my body? first thing that came to mind was that it produced the world’s most adorable twin redheaded girls. and now it still gives me the energy, at 44, to keep up with those girls who are now 6. and, at 5’10″, i have some awesome long legs. :-) and i love leah, too.

Thank you, thank you! What a wonderful interview! Recently I’ve had a few leg and back problems, and it made me realize how we take our wonderful bodies for granted when they work as expected. Being aware and grateful is so important! I’d love to try Nia–sounds like so much fun.

Both of you have so much wisdom to share.

Great Interview. Jamie, I love the freedom identified in your dance practice and the practice of consciously loving our body.

Since this is my first time participating in the CED challenge, I’m delighted to be able to honor the body theme. As you both said we really have to make ourselves aware of how wonderful our amazing bodies function in the universe. I have never thought about what body part I was most grateful for before, but impulsively I would have to say my eyes first and my hands second. Without sight I could not appreciate all the beautiful art that we are all creating here and without hands to create with. Thank you both for the inspiration, Susan

How interesting that days before listening to this interview I intuitively had tried dancing my dreamboard and loved the experience. So many great ideas in this. Jamie, you are just brilliant!

Hi Jamie,
I missed this interview somehow, and I just ran across it b/c it popped up at the bottom of today’s full moon dream board post. I’ve always been very active, and I thought I was aware of my body. Mostly I think I was good at powering through everything with my body. I appreciate all the different perspectives you’ve introduced me to thinking about my relationship with my body – both in the interview and throughout your practice. Especially as I grow older this is super helpful for me to be aware of and appreciate the body I have in this life!
