One of my favourite things that Justin and I do together is go on a Saturday Morning Adventure. Sometimes we explore a new neighbourhood or check out something going on in the city. Sometimes, to a less-knowing eye, we might look like we’re doing “errands”, but it’s always an adventure. We haven’t been for a while so we made up for lost time by making a whole day of it this Saturday. Starting off in The Beaches area of Toronto for breakfast and a stroll.

We saw a man flying this amazing kite. I wish I’d got a shot of it in the air! Justin and I talked about making kites together one day and coming down here to watch them fly.

As we moved away from The Beach, we had a visit by this very alert and interested dog.

Next we toured a hip and up-and-coming neighbourhood called Leslieville. One of my favourite things in the world is looking at houses and when we do that, we always visit with the local cats.

We even managed to visit with a local horse.

And see some beautiful things.

And some interesting things.

And some things that made us laugh.

After all that walking, it was time to find a cool and cozy place for a meal.

And on the way home we picked up some luscious concord grapes. A wonderful treat to end a treat of a day.
Where will you go on your next adventure?

I need to visit Toronto, don’t I?
Know what you mean about the adventures. Couple-adventures are fewer for us because of the kids, but they’re old enough to enjoy them now, too. I think our next one will be to a full-moon drum circle held downtown the Friday before the next full moon (which happens to be the day before Hallowe’en). Can’t wait!
This is lovely, Jamie. Thanks for sharing it.
We adventure differently because our son who is 8 is usually along with us. This week we’re going to a high school football game!
Love your adventure
Our adventures generally center around going to museums these days - when husband and i lived in NYC, we went exploring a lot, but there it was more long walks around older parts of the city, ethnic grocery stores, yummy foods. Here in Washington, DC it’s definitely more of an emphasis on museums, though we are planning an adventure to the suburbs for next weekend. It sounds counter-intuitive, but most of the ethnic grocery stores and restaurants are far out in teh suburbs here. And of course we will have to hit a couple of craft stores
Ah….saturday morning adventures, Toronto…all of it, it’s wonderful, and luscious and so glad you shared photos of my favorite city! When my daughter gets old we’re so going to explore TO more and see what she loves about it too!
Peace Jamie!

This is what I like about your adventure: that you are totally in love with your city. Indeed, it is such a unique and happy place. I have to learn about the beaches. I also like the rambling quality of the day. I’m certain that it helps one focus in the present, in what IS, instead of what we think there is.
Jamie, I’m so happy. I am with computer and Internet service. I’m back in the game! I’ll be visiting often now.
I love your “Beaches” area–beautiful; and the kite looks awesome, although a bit intimidating. We have “built in” adventures living on the boat–walking around the harbor, checking out the local farmer’s market and art fairs, kayaking the harbor, sailing, and when we want something different we go to the neighboring mountains or into the city. I love checking out different places, and foods:)
Yayayayay! I love this post! I love hearing about your Saturday morning adventures and seeing them too and that sign truly cracks me up. I wonder where that lake came from thought???!!!
Awesome post Jamie, loved it. Makes me miss you and Toronto, but in a good way. Hugs!
