What are you creating in the world?
My personal mission statement, that I wrote years ago, is to help others to recognize and achieve their own potential through my personal and spiritual experiences. I feel that so many of us, especially women, dedicate our lives to others and forget about own greatness and potential. We lose sight of our dreams and goals and wishes or at least put them on the back burner. I am trying to create harmony and balance for myself and others to get beyond the fears that all too often hold us back.
I want to create a world where children are treated as the gifts that they are. Children are our greatest gifts and our chance to change the future, but we have somehow gotten the approach screwed up. We give them our fears instead of our greatness. Women (especially mothers) need to put themselves on the front burner and allow the pot to boil over to the others in their lives instead of on the back burner and depleting themselves.
The changes start with the adults, whether male or female. Children learn by our actions. Do as I say, not as I do, is a myth. They watch closely. If we are to bring greatness, we have to be great and set an example of living to our potential.
How has Wishcasting helped?
Wishcasting opened doors that were long ago shut. It provided me with a platform to share my experiences with people who were in the same mindset. It helped to break the isolation of being overweight and a writer. It has created a safe and magical place to go and share pieces of who I am.
In a short period time, only a couple of months, I am putting action behind my wishes and dreams. I am letting who I am, under all the layers, start to shine. The support and love given from each and every one of them helped me to take some risks with my writing and my life. The questions are thought provoking and give me permission to acknowledge what I need and want. It gives me a ticket to look deep within myself for the truth behind my fears. Learning to share my experiences with many instead of just a chosen few let’s me expand on my personal quest. It keeps me motivated to pursue this journey that has stalled all too often.
What have you learned about yourself by participating in Wishcasting?
TONS! My biggest lesson is how I have held myself back all these years. A favorite disclaimer of mine was I don’t have time. Interestingly enough, you find time when it becomes important. I actually feel like I have more time. I have learned I have a voice, an important voice. I have learned that a healthy lifestyle needs to incorporate ALL three things, Mind, Body and Soul. Wishcasting helped bring all my experiences and dreams into perspective. It helped me learn how to bring my dreams into small, easy manageable steps. You can share your stories, your thoughts, wishes and dreams with others a thousand times over, but until you put movement and action behind them that is where they stay. Wishcasting has taught me how to be myself AND take action.
What would you like to celebrate?
I would like to celebrate my life and who I am. For years, I have hidden behind the veil of victim which I perpetuated with the excuse of using my weight to protect me. I am seeing my own potential AND the steps I need to take to get there. I want to celebrate and honor all the children in my own country. It is honorable to help children in places other than our home, but what does that say about the hard work that needs to be done in our own backyards? I want to celebrate that I have taken a step toward breaking the cycle and I want celebrate making a difference.
Most importantly, I want to celebrate and honor each and every woman who participates in Wishcasting and those that have not arrived yet. Their is a strong, silent, lovable strength when we come together to share a small piece of ourselves.

Wow! Jules, as a newer member of WW wishers, I really enjoyed reading your perspective on where “wishing” has taken your dreams and goals. I know I’m seeing changes already, and it’s been merely weeks. Thank you for sharing…your words are inspirational, and as a mom, I’m seeking out your advice on your blog too!
Peace,
WRO

Another great interview. Nicely done.
Julie; I’m enjoying and find interest, your blogs. They keep close to a the truth about anyone who has had a weight issue. I like your reflections and encouragement to others to break free(er) of their negative self-image and internal messages. Thank you for sharing your truths.
Yes the veil of victim… I have learned about the UNTOLD Stories we carry this year and have no more room for the Untold. Learning to express my truths is still very new but due to a 500kv power line effecting my rare and precious ecosystem and 600 year old fir snag I finally have no excuse not to talk about the realities in my life and though at times painful it is very freeing. Very glad to have found this blog. You are a Blessing.
