What are you creating in the world?
I am sharing my journey with others on my two blogs, collagediva.com and truenortharts.com. Life is like a collage – we have many varied pieces that come together to tell our stories. On collagediva.com I like to explore various mediums from Japanese flower arranging to photography and of course collage. On truenortharts.com I post art journal prompts and offer online workshops. Each project is an opportunity to check in, explore the creative process, and discover new ways for self-expression. As I share my journey in pictures and words, my hope is to inspire others to take a look within and find their own unique expression.
How have Wishcasting and The Next Chapter helped?
I participated in two of The Next Chapter sessions (“12 Secrets” and “The Joy Diet”). Having a weekly commitment to myself to read, reflect, create, and share provided me with a container, a structure for which my creativity really opened up. I knew each Friday that we would share another chapter. I enjoyed reading the chapters and reflecting on them all week. There were many times when I was tired or over-scheduled but I successfully worked through both books and blogged on each chapter. I found my creativity was supercharged and my writing skills improved too. Add to this a connection forged with others from around the world who were reading and reflecting on the same ideas. The experience has helped me to better understand my creative process.
Wishcasting Wednesday has been a touchstone during my busy week. Jamie has a way of asking a question that seems simple on the surface yet sears to the heart of self exploration. Wishcasting Wednesday has helped me to make time in the week to reflect upon my desires. In these reflections I find myself discerning and taking risks – from the risk of posting my dreams for the world to see to taking steps to make these dreams come true. The Wishcasting Wednesday community adds a layer of warmth and connection. I’ve discovered bloggers from around the world who share similar dreams and desires and others who have new ideas that I hadn’t thought of, giving me new areas to explore.
What have you learned about yourself by participating?
I’ve learned many things about myself but one discovery has been how I can read a chapter or question and then creatively explore and express it. I love writing prompts and designing projects based on an idea that I’ve read.
What would you like to celebrate?
I’d like to celebrate the connections we are making. Jamie has fostered something very special, a community where we can truly be makers of magic and tender of wishes.
