What am I creating in the world?
Wow, there is a question! For most of my adult life I have been teaching small children, which I love doing. After nearly 25 years of teaching I guess I have finally become brave enough to move on to my other passion, my bliss.. my artwork and photography. For the last two years I have actively been selling my work online. I found a whole new world online.
I create whimsical illustrations. My intent with my artwork is to make you smile, to touch your heart in some way. Having taught for so long..I think my artwork reflects the child in me..the fun and magic we felt as children. I do love the magical possibilities in artwork. I work primarily in pen and ink, but I also use colored pencil and have been known to paint also.
My photography is a new passion. I love macro photography..those close up shots. Catching insects is wonderful fun! I also adore candid shots of people’s faces. Caught when they are not looking. Being able to digitally change photos and play with the colors and settings is way too much fun!
So I guess I am trying to create some magic for the eyes, with the hope that it touches the heart and makes the viewer smile.
How has Wishcasting helped?
When I started selling online, I was suffering from not only a lack of confidence in myself , but in my artwork . I had worked at my artwork most of my life and feared success in some ways. In January of last year I started a blog with the intent of promoting my artwork. It quickly became so much more than that. It did not take me long to find Wednesday Wishcasting. I was welcomed with open arms and found Jamie’s questions reached down inside and made me think.. a lot. Some weeks more than I would like. But I found myself growing and finding issues that I had not dealt with.
What have you learned about yourself?
The biggest thing I have learned Wishcasting this year…I was not taking care of myself, emotionally, spiritually, physically, in anyway. Slowly but surely Jamie pulled back each layer and made me look at myself as a worthy being. Each week my confidence has grown and I have stepped out and done things that I have only dreamt of doing. When I miss a week I feel off balance, like my week is not complete without the opportunity to stop and contemplate her question.
It always seems relevant to me at that moment. As Renee tells me..I have gone from mental duck to mental swan…I love that! I am quite fond of my beautiful new swan wings!
I am now seriously pursuing my artwork & photography as a full time vocation and passion. I am also writing and putting myself out there in ways I never thought I would have the courage to do. Jamie’s questions may seem simple on the surface, but they reach right to the heart of things for me. Wishcasting has not only helped me find my path to True North, but every week Jamie gently leads me back when I have strayed.
What would I like to celebrate?
I guess there is one phrase that has become attached to me here on the blogs… ”Let Fly”. It is dear to me because of its meaning to me.
Don’t be afraid of putting yourself out there, be brave, step out and “Let Fly” with the passion and the joy in whatever you are doing. I want to celebrate not only the deep joy I feel on this path to True North, but to somehow reach out and help others find theirs. So I want to celebrate my new found swan wings, stretch them and test them..I want to “Let Fly”.

*smile* I was just telling Jamie what the WW community means to me, and you dear Sarah are a special person in my wishers circle. Thank you for sharing what WW means to you…it offers insight into a person I knew I liked from the get go. The magic you offer to us through your art is your Light, hands down. Your special phrase “Let Fly” has stuck with me since meeting you…in fact when I began carving out my very first rubber stamp this weekend, your phrase came to mind. It ain’t finished yet…but the message is clear…
Blessing to you (new) friend on your soaring adventures!

Bravo! Remember in Peter Pan, when one of the lost boys takes peters’ face in his hands, looks into his eyes and says, there you are Peter…after reading this, I remember!
