Owning Your Power

in Discover Yourself

I picked up this month’s O magazine because it focuses on a topic I feel passionately about: owning your power. Oprah asked all of her contributors to complete the following sentence, “I felt most powerful when…”

For me, I felt most powerful when during one of the most chaotic, confusing times in my life, I found myself on the dance floor. Dancing at the club, I felt like myself. I felt connected to the Universe. I felt beautiful. I felt free.

Now it’s your turn. How would you complete the sentence, “I felt most powerful when…”? Oprah and I would love to know.

Jamie, thanks for the invitation to write…and to looking inside our own experience and then share what we have found with others.

I have a short answer and a long answer. The short: I felt most powerful when I chose to see hope over despair in my battle to heal chronic pain.

For the long answer, I am including a link to the story.

I felt most powerful hopping freight trains from Minnesota to Alaska in my early 20′s. I was fearless!! :)

Wow–this little exercise provided a great deal of insight. Thank you–and thanks, Oprah. ;)

Moving west from Ottawa to Vancouver. I felt so brave, so dedicated to my health and happiness. My inner gypsy drinking in the landscape. I felt like anything could happen and I was ready. I can’t wait to feel that power again one day!

I felt most powerful when I walked away from an unhappy time through a door which offered new challenges and a brighter future. I felt most powerful when I realised the enormity of what I had done and the feeling of release from something that was not good.

When I’m editing a video. I used to work at our local television nearly twenty years ago, and most recently done little productions on my blog – got to love youtube- here’s a taste.
