Studio Renewal

January 3, 2013

in Creative Space

It’s been stirring for a while but now it is officially here – the mess and chaos of a big refresh in the studio!

For quite a while now, there’s been some rumbling under the surface. It’s been clear that something’s happening – just not clear what! It has been uncomfortable, confusing and chaotic, which has been really disorienting for this lover of white space! And it turns out that love of white space helped me break through. That desire showed me that it’s time to break the box – even if it’s a box I love – and grow!

It just seemed so crazy. How can Jamie Ridler Studios grow? There’s already so much going on and all the advice out there seems to be to hone in and focus, focus, focus. And I’ve seen that work so beautifully for others. Every time I thought about doing more I worried that it would be exhausting, that it would be diluting, that it was exactly the opposite of what everyone else, especially all the business gurus, say to do.

But when did any Vision stop and ask for the rules?

The truth is Jamie Ridler Studios and I have been feeling like pot-bound plants, growing and growing and growing because that’s in our nature but finding ourselves with less and less space to breathe, to spread out and to share our blooms.

So, it’s time for a re-potting. It’s time to take up space. It’s time to do some shedding so fresh growth can thrive. It’s time to break some rules and make a mess. It’s time for me to not be afraid of the chaos but to revel in it, to not worry that I might break what’s working while I go for what’s awesome.

It’s time to come alive.

So you’ll be seeing some changes around here. And you’ll be seeing some mess. And some awesome. And some magic. Because that’s the way the creative process goes. It needs room to breathe, to experiment, to play, to get it wrong, in order to discover the way.

I hope this inspires you to embrace your own creative mess, to rock the boat, to let your vision lead the way. I hope it inspires you to get into a bigger pot when you need to.

I hope you’ll be with me all the way!

Clearing out to make room for new opportunities is one of my favorite activities…that is once I get passed the overwhelm part. What a fabulous way to start the year! Happy New Year!

Thanks for reminding me that we do pass through the overwhelm part! Right now it seems to come in waves.

I’m so looking forward to the changes Jamie. I know they’ll be wonderful for you and for all of us too! :)

I’m also undergoing a studio transformation – although on a much smaller scale but I know I’m looking forward to my own changes too. It seems like 2013 is a year for big changes all around.

I’m also keeping tabs on your interloper…I’m very curious to see how it all turns out!

Cheers, xo
Lynne
