Summoning Courage

February 4, 2013

in Dream

My art picnic friend Danette gave me a beautiful gift for Christmas – a gift certificate for magazines. So I indulged in the beauty of two Stampington & Company magazines: Art Journaling and Where Women Create.

I was so surprised to read from the editor of the latter, Jo Packham, how she experienced inviting artists to share their studios with the magazine and its readers,

“It took me a very long minute to summon the courage to write each of these individuals a letter, asking if they would consider being featured in WHERE WOMEN CREATE. After I hit “send” on each and every letter, I felt like a small child waiting for a miracle. I checked my inbox incessantly, waiting for their replies.”

This is the editor of a beautiful, established, aspirational magazine – and she had to summon her courage to ask.

We all get nervous. Our desires continually invite us to summon our courage. Getting comfortable with the discomfort is part of the journey to our dreams.

What will you summon the courage for?

Thank you so much for sharing the link to this fantastic publisher! I can’t wait to decide which magazine to order first.

I’m so glad for this little bit of encouragement it is another ‘serendipitous’ moment for me having just committed two sections on my blog to subjects close to my heart – Yoga and Mental Health / Bi-polar Disorder, in the hope I can encourage others. My blog has reached the ripe old age of three now and I thought it time to expand a little. I touch base with you from time to time, you were my initial inspiration and still are, so once again thank-you for a timely nudge! x

PS Glad to know its not just me checking my inbox incessantly for replies, I thought I needed to practise more ‘detachment’ ;~)
