This Week on Creative Living with Jamie:
Elif Işıközlü, Director
Director Elif Isikozlu’s most recent work is ETUDES: Four Short Dance Films. Each ETUDE visualizes the experience of movement merging camera, choreography, and occasionally Bach. The ETUDES have screened internationally including the CFC’s Worldwide Short Film Festival, Vancouver 2010 Cultural Olympiad Digital Edition, New York’s Dance on Camera, Video Danza Buenos Aires, Chicago International Movies & Music, with “let go” nominated for a Golden Sheaf Best Experimental Short at Yorkton. Elif also directs theatre, often including large projections in her work. Her “brilliant and contemporary production” (Ottawa Citizen, February 2012) of Arrabal’s “Le Cimetière des voitures” merged film and theatre through a live foley soundscape, projected via live feed onto the actors at unpredictable intervals. Her multi-media installation “pebbled” was featured at fFIDA Toronto (2005). She is a Canada Council and Ontario Arts Council grant recipient, and a member of the Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab, New York.
