Every Monday, Wednesday & Friday morning I invite you Behind the Scenes at my studio.
Today: As we come closer to year-end it feels like just the right time to clear out any stopped up energy and I’m doing that by clearing out, letting go and getting closure on some projects. How about you?

I’ve been sorting through a few things also. I’ve been sending out pictures via e-mail to the people I think might be interested in having these items — first come first served. So far the things have gone to people who really wanted them. My current struggle of “letting go” is going through my hundreds and hundreds of photographs. I’ve been fine letting go of, say 300 sunset pictures or 150 close-ups of a flower!! The question I have — what about the old black & white pictures from the 1930-40’s of my folks and their peer groups? Some I am keeping and passing along as a legacy or family history, but what about all of the many others? Some have people in them that I have no clue who they are!! I imagine this is a question that a lot of us have when it’s time to go through our parent’s things.
HI Jamie, I just took a long walk in firefly field in Farmington CT. It was gorgeous day. Warm but brisk. I took five deep breaths. The place was the Hillstead Museum. Please look it up and if you’re in our neck of the woods visit. You’ll be inspired by the grounds alone. Alexis
This was so poignant. The way you release things with heartfelt goodwill impresses me. It’s more mindful than other ways I have heard letting go described. It’s not easy with our parent’s things.
I have a rainstick from the 90’s. Every now and then, I turn it over and hear that magical sound. I found it interesting that the cats came to check the sound out.
I also like that the end of the year can be a time to still complete something or let it go. Usually December is taken up with holiday activities for me and you have me thinking of using this time in a different way.
Your wisdom is appreciated.
